Time to Start Planning

Freshmen: Now is the time to start thinking about college options. In your RBV Course Catalog, you will find a 4-year planner and a list of all CSU and UC minimum eligibility requirements. The UC requirements typically parallel most private/independent colleges also. Map out a plan for when you will take each required course. Also, get involved! Find a club, organization, or community outreach program that you would enjoy participating in and stick with it. Colleges look more for quality and consistency over quantity.

Sophomores: This year is an important year in terms of your selected courses. If you really enjoy or do well in a particular subject, think about taking the AP or Honors level of that course. Don't be afraid to challenge yourself. Also, think about taking on a leadership position in something you are involved in.

Juniors: Again, this is also an important year in terms of your selected courses. Choose your "electives" wisely and show yourself and potential colleges what you are really capable of achieving. Take on a leadership role or, if you are bold, try something new. Begin your college search and create a plan for visiting some schools, if possible.

Seniors: I know you have worked so hard but now is not the time to slack off! Keep going in those advanced courses or continue taking courses in that subject you love. Continue your college search but begin narrowing your focus to schools that you are seriously considering and that are a good match for you. Double check that you have met the minimum admission requirements for all schools you are considering. Don't forget the deadline dates and start looking for financial aid now.
