Here are some frequently asked quesitons ans their answers:
Q. Who do I ask for a letter of recommendation?
A. You can ask a coach, teacher, counselor, administrator, or community member. Remember that those you know you well can write the best letter.
Q. How many will I need?
A. Typicall, colleges ask for up to three letters. Remember that many times, one of your letters must come from your counselor. Don't know your counselor very well? This is the best time for you to visit us so we can get to know you better.
Q. How much time do I give someone to write my letter?
A. PLEASE! Give a recommender at least two weeks to write a good letter for you. ***One of those weeks CANNOT include Thanksgiving or Winter break!
Q. Do I need to provide my recommender with any information?
A. Yes. Please make sure you give your recommender a completed copy of your Brag Sheet.
Q. Do I provide the postage for my letters of recommendation?
A. Yes, always provide your recommender with an addressed envelope that is stamped. You should not fill in your return address information. That needs to be the school's address. Also, for counselors, please provide 2 stamps for each letter. We are required to send additional paperwork with your letter and many times, it is heavier than a regular piece of mail.
